In response to the demand for emerging technology talents, Taipei City Government today (August 12th) signed a memorandum of cooperation with National Chiao Tung University and accepted the donation of 635 Rabboni sensors from National Chiao Tung University. Those sensors will be distributed to the 6 self-made education and technology centers in junior high and elementary schools such as Ren-Ai junior high School in Taipei City to promote technology education.

 
With the rise of AI applications and the vigorous development of 5G technology, Taipei City is pushing for new technology courses such as self-made education that integrates information technology. Today, witnessed by Deputy Mayor Huang Shan-Shan, Taipei City Education Director Ceng Can-Jin and the Acting President of National Chiao Tung University Sin-Horng Chen signed a cooperation memorandum.

 

Taipei City Government also accepted the donation of 635 Rabboni sensors developed by the team of Professor Kuei-Ann Wen of National Chiao Tung University, which are expected to be distributed to the 6 self-made education and technology centers in junior high and elementary schools such as Ren-Ai junior high school in Taipei City.

 

According to the Education Bureau of Taipei City, many schools have applied sensors to digital self-developed courses. For example, Xin Xing Junior High School teachers lead students to write programming languages such as Scratch and Python into the sensors, and set them when the wearable device detects the fall of the elderly or children, activate the sensors to connect to the Internet of Things devices at home, and dispatch the home care robot to provide assistance.

 

In the speech, Shan-Shan Huang pointed out that after Taipei City Mayor Wen-Je Ko took the office, Taipei City has been very dedicated to promoting science and technology education and smart education. "I am very pleased that National Chiao Tung University has given us such an important thing (sensors)." In the future, technology inheritance and education will be more important, including making teachers become seed teachers, etc.

 

Can-Jin Tseng said that the 635 sensors donated by National Chiao Tung University will be sent to 6 schools’ self-made education and technology centers, and open for teachers in Taipei City schools to apply for use. He hopes that the schools can incorporate programming into the information education courses to make children like the use of technology more.

 

In a joint interview with the media, Kuei-Ann Wen said that the Ministry of Education began to promote the University Social Responsibility Practice Project (USR Project) in 2006. At that time, National Chiao Tung University believed that it could help promote programming education, so it commissioned alumni manufacturers to develop sensor models and make children acceptable shell, hope to benefit elementary and junior high school students to have them entering the 5G era sooner.
