In the 2021 Mobilehero Networked Future Challenge, the judges spend a lot of time reviewing and discussing the works before finally deciding on 22 pieces of work for the final. All chosen pieces of work are presented in an online exhibition that is worth visiting. The exhibition shows various creative products with intelligent network connections. Many authors propose solutions targeting new needs that emerge in the post-pandemic era. To inspect and learn these products, explore new creations with network applications, find investment targets, find talents and opportunities to cooperate, or fulfill interests, one can visit the online exhibition with the following link. https://2021mobileheroes.e21magicway.com/RegForm/
An excellent piece of work that enters the final of the 2021 Mobilehero Networked Future Challenge: PDcare Shoe Pad
It can be used at home, bringing more convenient and more medical resources for patients with Parkinson''s disease
Highlights:
•Easy to use and able to be used any time
•Using a cloud platform to identify the potential risk of Parkinson''s disease
•An APP is available to check the measurement result
Parkinson''s disease is a common neurodegenerative disease. At the early stage of Parkinson''s disease, symptoms are usually neglected and treated as simple aging. To learn whether one has Parkinson’s disease, patients need to go to hospitals to receive a proper medical diagnosis from doctors who use the professional equipment that is only available in hospitals. The equipment limitation causes great inconvenience for patients to monitor their daily status. To help the patients, we propose PDcare Shoe Pad to facilitate the measurement, where eight pressure sensors are installed in both left and right shoe pads. The device that collects data is embedded with a Raspberry Pi (R-Pi) development board mounted on patients’ calves.
The whole system is an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device suitable for households. The system automatically checks whether patients are walking and measures their status every two hours. Users can also proactively use the APP for measurement. The collected data is preprocessed by R-Pi before being sent to the cloud, reducing transmission overhead. The cloud platform evaluates the potential risk of Parkinson’s disease with machine learning technology. The results can be learned through the APP, which also shows the status of foot pressures. Compared to existing foot-pressure-measurement devices in the market, the product is portable and wearable at any time with much lower costs. The uploaded data on the cloud platform can also be accessed by doctors for remote inquiries. The system brings great convenience to patients with Parkinson''s disease.

Team: ForeLook
ForeLook from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University has technical directors: Prof. Charles H.-P. Wen from the Department of Electrons and Electrical Engineering and Aaron C-W Liang, a Ph.D. student. ForeLook is named after the purpose of the system that helps patients foresee changes in their health conditions before diseases get worse. After attending Mobilehero, we start to construct and plan out the business model of this product. Therefore, we would like to invite Mr. Jeff Wen, the founder of Mafia Capital, to be our business guide. We hope to cooperate with big hospitals by providing our products at a low price and allowing patients to rent our system through the hospital. By doing so, we can gather more foot pressure data from patients with Parkinson''s disease and further improve our product.
