Ray-Hua Horng, a distinguished professor and chairman of the Department of Electronics Engineering, National Chiao Tung University, and Ingentec Corporation have implemented the Ministry of Science and Technology Industry-Academy Program and have successfully developed micro-shaped light-emitting diodes (Micro LED) on special copper magnetic substrates, with ultra-thin (Only 50 microns) grind-free and chemical etching can be used for die separation. This technology will make the Micro LED die itself no longer fragile, and magnetic probe cards can be used for massive micro-size pre-arrangement and massive transfer. It broke through the traditional air absorption crystal grain limit and has the opportunity to significantly reduce the current high-priced production cost of Micro LED displays, and then become a new opportunity for Taiwan''''s display industry.
Professor Horng specifically mentioned that Micro LED display is a Multidisciplinary technology that must integrate heterogeneous integration technologies such as LED die structure, circuit design, IC driving, mass transfer, display technology, etc. In response to the development of this industry, National Chiao Tung University has specially established "Advanced Electro-Optic Technology and System Technology Integration Center" hopes to provide a service platform for cross-industry integration and talent training through this center, thereby improving the level of electro-optical technology in related domestic industries and becoming a world-class R&D and manufacturing electro-optical component/system center.
The copper magnetic substrate used in this technology is a product of Ingentec Corporation, while the magnetic pre-arrangement equipment for large-scale dimensioning, the large-scale transfer equipment for magnetic probe cards, and the Micro LED laser repair machine are provided by the Central Taiwan Science Park INNOSTAR SERVICE INC.". Ingentec Corporation stated that this copper magnetic substrate material is used in the LED industry and combines the huge industrial strength of precision machinery, LED epitaxy, IC Driver, display industry, etc. It has the opportunity to create the output value of Micro LED displays of billions or even tens of billions for Taiwan in the next three to five years.
